Global hacktivist group “Anonymous” declared digital War against Daesh with a video posted online. Stating that the terrorists would not be safe from their reach.
Shortly after the videos posting on social media, Twitter hashtags #OpParis and #OpISIS started trending. Target posted of the terror group’s websites, social media accounts, as well as online recruitment video’s. Many target’s being posted to services such as Pastebin in response to last Friday’s Mass attacks in Paris France.
This is not the first time the hacktivist group “Anonymous” has acted collectively against terrorists. Earlier after the Charlie Hebdo Attack the group also acted against Daesh. However this action against the terrorist organization clearly appears to be MUCH more widespread and seems to have gained more ground quickly.
One “Anonymous” affiliated group “GhostSec” has identified up to 40 websites that are protected by IT Firm CloudFlare and calling for the firm to take them down.
As of this afternoon November 16, 2015 the numbers have now grown to target nearly 150 websites and 1000 twitters accounts as well as facebook social media accounts.
As more details are released by news media the group’s strategy appears to be one of EXPOSE and IDENTIFY. I would not be surprised to see money trails begin to be tracked down and exposed before long.
It does appear that CyberWar has broken out and a call to arms certainly is being heard among many in the cyber community. How far and wide this will grow and go we can only watch and look as the digital war begins.
Included is a link to the video Anonymous posted, we will try to keep it up as long as services allow it.
