This week was as Geeky as it can get for Windows 10 Insiders.  Microsoft release of Build 15002 to the Fast Ring and it’s FULL of all kinds of new features and changes.  Enough that I’m only going to mention a FEW and refer you to the Windows 10 Blog page.

So what’s SOOO cool?  Build 15002 came with all kinds of improvement’s, so many I’m just going to list them here.  The Microsoft Blog page is located HERE so you can see what’s coming SOON to a computer near you.

Edge includes the following new improvements.

  • Tabbed Previews

  • Flash Click-to-Run (Allow once, Always Allow)
  • Web Payments using Microsoft Wallet

Start & Shell Improvements

  • Tile Folders in Start (looks like someone copied an iOS feature)
  • Updated Windows Share
  • Capture a region of your screen (taken from ONE NOTE)
  • Improved high-DPI support for desktop apps
  • Smooth Window Resizer
  • Desktop Icon Placement and Scaling Improvements
  • Simplified and faster VPN access
  • Improved sign-in dialogs for apps

  • Improvements to notifications.

  • More recurrence options for Reminders
  • Keyboard short cut change (WIN + C)

Accessibility Improvements

  • Inclusive out of the box experience the team at Microsoft reimagined how people their PCs for the first time.  Their ultimate goal is for Cortana to verbally ask questions and the person listen and respond to Cortana verbally.  The process is in it’s EARLY phases.  Test media is promised later in the week for more Windows Insiders to try this process.

  • Narrator keyboard shortcut change (CTRL + WIN + Enter)

Windows Defender Improvements

  • Introducing REFRESH WINDOWS  if the pc is running slow, crashes or unable to update.   This options starts fresh by reinstalling and updating windows, which will remove most of your apps but keep your personal files and some settings.

  • Windows personalization now supports recent colors

BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) replaced by GSOD (GREEN Screen of DEATH)  final release will have the classic blue return.

Quick Virtual Machine Creation in Hyper-V

Improved Update Experience

  • Added pause updates for up to 365 days
  • Options Driver updates on Pro, Education and Enterprise
  • New update Icon.  Icon is consistent with Defender Dashboard.
  • Better Logic to detect if PC’s display is being used for something, such as projecting to avoid attempted restart.
  • Windows Home users able in increase 18 hour max for Active hours.

Windows Information Protection Improvements for Business customers

  • Changes to Placing Work files on Removable Drives
  • Open Dialog for Work Files in Personal Apps

Power usage experiment on select Windows 10 devices
