The floodgates are open and the servers are already overloaded, as Apple releases iOS 9.
Apple releases iOS 9 to the public today. Downloads went live at 1:00pm eastern, many iOS device users will also notice that app updates are offline as well. This is suspected as apple is trying to roll out many of the iOS updates at this time. Reports that iOS 9.1 beta is already underway with reported bug fixes as well from many locations. For those that just can’t bear the bugs, or delays you may want to wait for that update.
As for me, I’m jumping in with both feet this afternoon on my phone and an older iPad. I’ve enjoyed being an early adopter and even assist with bug squashing. I’ll be updating this post as we get word on any bugs. My older iOS device needed about 850MB for the download and my newer just less than 1GB. So storage needed will vary.
Editor: IPhone 6, took just under 8 minutes for download, verification and update. To complete, older IPad , so far much longer, less memory and CPU.
On the older iPad Mini, with only 16GB of memory, iOS seems extremely labored and slow. After all of the updates clear, I’ll likely back the unit up and wipe it and do a clean INSTALL of the OS to see if possibly it’s gotten a bit of something cludged.
