For those with Microsoft Windows XP, it’s time to think about what’s NEXT!! That’s right after several years of putting off closing down support for the venerable OS. Microsoft will be ending Extended Support and LifeCycle. As of April 8, 2014, you will be no long supported by Microsoft.
Microsoft acknowledged the countdown to the end of support for Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2003 almost a year ago, advising back then that it was is a good time for organisations that still have PCs running the software to migrate to a newer version, such as Windows 7.
Microsoft has even gone so far as to offer a discount for those still using Windows XP and Office 2003 to help Small- and medium size business upgrade with a Windows 8 Pro and Office 2013 standard upgrade for 15% off. Here’s the Link to the promotional website. This discount is being offered thru June 30.
Microsoft also beat the death drums in 2 recent blog postings regarding, A Year From Now Support for Windows XP Ends, Now What? and 365 Days Remaining Until XP End Of Support. The Countdown Begins. Microsoft if trying in every way they can to point out that it’s time to migrate before support runs out. They appear to want to be of assistance to the estimated 39% of all personal computers and 42% of all Windows PC’s running XP over the last month. (Statistics Provided by analytics company Net Applications.)
It clearly is an uphill climb and a slippery downhill slope to get users to upgrade with a price tag attached however in Technology NOTHING LASTS FOREVER.
