According to trusted sources, Apple has an incredible headline feature in development for iOS 6: a completely in-house maps application. Apple will drop the Google Maps program running on iOS since 2007 in favor for a new Maps app with an Apple backend. The application design is said to be fairly similar to the current Google Maps program on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, but it is described as a much cleaner, faster, and more reliable experience. Apple is preparing to add Notes and Reminders to iCloud.com, as evidenced by Apple’s iCloud beta test portal for registered developers. The changes popped up on Friday morning and developers noticed immediately, taking note of the two new icons that are not currently present on iCloud’s Web interface. (more…)
Jared Wein of Mozilla blogged last month about a new feature he was developing for Firefox 14 called “click-to-play”. The idea is to block the default loading of plugins like Java and Flash when surfing to reduce the memory footprint and provide protection against exploitation of plugin vulnerabilities.

Firefox pushed out another BETA release also being cited as a Release Candidate, the list below covers all of the fixes in this latest push . Since Mozilla is calling it a Release Candidate they likely are ontrack to hit their target release date of January 31, 2012.
