AutoDesk 2105

This week AutoDesk University 2015 opened in Las Vegas, Nevada.  It is by far the largest gathering of Engineering and technical professionals worldwide, with over 10,000 in attendance this year.   The innovations you may see in the upcoming years, are first conceptualized by some enterprising engineer, designer or creative type.  Many use AutoDesk software to create their ideas in 3D Renderings, Plans and Profiles or in some cases physical parts modeled on a 3D Printer or a CNC machine.

This years convention keynote featured Augmentation, Bionic Limbs, Aircraft Partitioning (Airbus), as wells Robotics learning to take on Repetitive tasks such as learning to create outlets in drywall.

AutoDesk Bishop RobotOne project on display was called HIVE.  Where robots and humans worked in tandem to build a structure from Bamboo sticks and string.  A pair of robots named Bishop and Ava worked tirelessly from approximately 8:00am on 12/1/2015 until near 9:00pm and had created over 34% of the structure.  Each Robot would create the element that would then be placed on to the hive by it’s human counter part.

The Project is intended to show how robots can work alongside human workers.  Together they can complete complex projects, having the robot taking on the most repetitive task.
