Even as the overall defense budget declines, a leaner military strategy will keep up funding in surveillance and intelligence techologies. This will include unmanned vehicles and cyber warfare.
Defense Secretary Leon Panetta comments that “we will protect, and in some case increase our investments” in several areas including intellegence, surveillance and reconnaissance, unmanned systems, space and cyberspace. President Obama has unveiled a new defense strategy that shrinks the U.S. armed forces.
While officials declined to spell out targets for cuts and investments, hints in the strategy document include developing a new stealth bomber and strengthening U.S. satellites.
