Facebook is set to start forcing users to change to the Timeline Profile. The new profile allows quicker access to older data, including posts, pictures and friend lists.
Starting Tuesday, Users who have not changed already will be given seven days to clean up their Facebook page in preparation for the change-over. Those who have not logged on to Facebook recently will automatically be switched.
Timeline doesn’t unhide any data that wasn’t already there to view. It just makes it easier to find it. Instead of clicking “older posts” to scroll through someone’s wall, you can choose a month to skip to. One problem with this is as your circle of friends grows (co-workers, boss, possible future boss, etc), content that you may have posted several months/years ago become easier to find and be reviewed by those people if they care to do the research.
Facebook will give you a week after the timeline is active to clean it up and arrange things as you see fit. They offer several tips to keep the task from being too overwhelming. Start with older posts that only a few friends had access to and make sure they are appropriate now. You can reorder pictures for better grouping. You can feature pictures and posts you would like to draw attention to.
There comes a time when a company has to give users a push to new things. It’s just not practical to maintain development and technical support for two different profiles forever. Some people just need a push and that is what Facebook is doing.

You know, I wondered how long it would take for them to force it on everyone. That seems to be Facebook’s tactic… Push out a new neato to developer feature and force you to use it. When this one came along everyone thought maybe they have changed. Nope just used it as a method to work the kinks out and now force the changes on all… I’m personally find it harder to find information on… I’ve never liked it and one of the reason’s I do alot more with Google+.
I think the same thing. I just didn’t put my personal views in the article! I don’t care for it. I play games and it is much harder to find the posts requesting stuff. I used to go to the person’s wall and scroll down to find them but now I just use my news feed and hope I catch them all between regular posts.
