Alright after reading this this morning, a couple of really big elephants come to mind when I think about a Facebook Phone.
This is the company that has STEPPED all over it’s users privacy numbers of times. Are you sure you want them having access to your call records and knowing where your at when you are out with your significant other by looking you up on your Facebook smart phone. Second point I would make is how often does Facebook make interface changes. I mean seriously, one day you may be able to dial and then the next NOT. I’m sorry I’d NOT be interested in this one. I’ll continue to cover it but this is got MOCK THEM written all over it.
Update 11.26.2011 – Great article at Digital Trends on why this phone is doomed to be the next ZUNE!! It’s author recounts the missteps that Microsoft made with their product and how Facebook appears to be headed down the same path. I stated in my previous statement that this is about one of the worst moves anyone has made in the Phone industry. Facebook’s record on privacy and buggy software and allowing it’s users to be exposed to Hacks, Phishing attempts alone should be enough to alarm anyone wanting to get involved.
