Robotic prison wardens to patrol South Korean prison | BBC News.
Robots these days would seem to be EVERYWHERE. Now in a step that will offer some cost savings as well as may just provide better coverage, a South Korean Prison will be using Robots to Guard Prisoners.
A jail just east of Pohang will run a 3 month trail using the Robots in March. Using the units to monitor prisoners and reduce the workload on the over worked Guards.
Research and Development of the units was done by a group called Asian Forum for Corrections, it is a group of researchers specializing in prison policies and criminal behavior. Each unit is packed with sensors and camera’s that can watch for prisoners abnormal behavior, monitoring for Suicide and Violence. When detected the Robot would alert Human guards to the issue.
The country and company hope the trail goes well and the unit will be come part of what they hope will be growing export business.
