We just activated a LIVE WeatherBlog. I’m looking at ways to add certain users to live realtime posts as well as adding certain twitter feeds to it as well. With it becoming that time of year where we keep our eyes on the weather. It may be a good time to get this going again. It can be found in the Weather slider under weather block.
UPDATE: The WeatherBlog has been pulled, from the weather room. It did not function as advertised.
Major Update and overhaul underway for my program called WeatherBackground. Programming for Version 2.0 started this week, it’s a complete rewrite as well as a new compiler. The previous method of change and updates used insecure and out of date methods. Coding began this week on a early ALPHA version. I hope to have this out to testers shortly. It is my intention to provide this program as shareware, so will be working on a donation method via the Website as well. The early release version of this will be very simple and I’ll add in the complexity as I continue work on it. Stay Tuned!!
Recent update to the website included a modification to the User Information Plugin/Widget located on the Website’s sidebar. I hope to release it before long. I added a bit more information that the program gathers and changed the method it was obtaining it. Upgrading it’s accuracy, it is better than the previous release. It at this time it can detect certain OS’s as well as certain mobile devices. At some point I may expand it even further. For now it is still in development as I’m looking at resolving some CSS related issues.
There are a few changes to the site, we should update you on.
First unfortunately we have had to disable PROXY Access to the site, we have also added additional IP Logging and Geo Logging as well.
The site has been seeing an uptick in traffic, we have added some precautions to keep things working well here. Unfortunately this could cause some access issues for those of you that use VPN or Proxies to access outside of your work place or country.
It is unfortunate we have had to make this change and hope that at some point we may be able to change it back. At this time we would prefer to have the performance issues resolved rather than the Brute Force attacks that were going on.
For those wanting to become registered and verified users. Simply click on the REGISTER Link to the right and fill out the application… If you do so, make sure you use valid information as non-valid accounts will be blocked and banned.
As this continues we may be forced to add other measures as well.
Thanks for your understanding,
The Staff of TechnoJunkyard
We added a Multi-OS section, with one of the best pieces of software I think I’ve seen come along for a while now. PREY – Prey lets you keep track of your laptop, phone and tablet whenever missing, whether you’re in town or abroad. Open source, proven software with hundreds of documented recoveries all around the world.

Ok so we are rolling out the newest modifications to our Weather Room. We have had coverage for Oklahoma for sometime now. As of today we are covering weather for the Dallas-FortWorth Metroplex. We will be adding additional information to unpopulated tabs in that section next.
We added a bit of information to our Library and Links.
Library – Sorted by Alphabetical the Library, and Added a NEW Section for Wireless.
This is something that I’ve used many times over the years and just found it would be better place it on the website so folks can find it rather than it hanging about in my BookMarks and having to email it to them.
First being Creating a Wireless Bridge and the Second is a link to the DD-WRT Firmware site.
Links – Sorted by Alphabetical the Links, and added Making Cables, created a how to article on Making Ethernet Cables. Plenty of Photo’s to go along with it.
Updated the Login Process for new users to include a email validation link click. This should keep a few of the FAKE accounts from being created this also includes a captcha in the process. Again contact me via the Contact form in the About if you have issues or questions regarding this.
As many of you join us from the various social media Share’s we maintain here on TechnoJunkyard. You may notice some of the Banners and Links are a bit confused or repeated. Well we are in the middle of an UPDATE to a new sharing system. Shareaholic, seems to offer what we have been looking for here to be able to get the word out about your Blog here. They are the Nice Little Icon’s you see in a LINE below the each post.
I’ll be continuing to tweak them to get the shares correct. I’m also looking into bringing a newer version of the buttons into the site that will allow for some of the other services. At the moment the only one I’m missing compared to what was there before is StumbleUpon.. Staytuned I’m sure that the tweaking will soon expand into what I’ve been hoping to have on the server.
I put in 2 new forms today, using information I go from our local Usergroup Meetup. It was informative and I’ll look forward to attending again in the future. The About and Article Submission links have been updated making it easy to reach me. Simply Fill out the form and it does the REST. I’ll be making some changes to the News Link/Archive. It’s been long overdue and I think I’ve seen just the thing at last nights meeting however I’ll be playing with it a bit before I roll it out.
Also for those that visited the steampunk site I was working on that is in our links section. Thanks for all the traffic. We will be moving the site to a PERM location soon and are hoping to open a storefront for them really soon on their PERM home.
