A Virginia Circuit Court judge has ruled that the Fifth Amendment does not protect one’s fingerprint to unlock a device. However it does protect passcodes.
Apple Inc. (AAPL)’s release of the iOS 8.0.1 software update, cut off user’s ability to make calls via iPhones. Creating yet another major blow up in the saga of the iOS 8 roll out. This issue appears to have a link to another that’s still fresh in people’s minds: the 2012 introduction of a new maps program.
Apple’s update iOS 8.0.2 has now been placed on servers to address the issues discovered in yesterday’s 8.0.1 update on the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. The new release includes all of the HealthKit and keyboard fixes, among others, as well as the ability to actually make phone calls and connect to a cellular data network. (more…)
In what appears to be another got ya, in what can only be described as a rough release for Apple with it’s iOS 8 release. That has certainly seen several issues. The companies new Family Sharing has a BUG in it that Agents are being told was a security feature intended to keep folk from moving between Shares. This BUG locks a person out of joining any family shares after they have set one up.
Last night 9to5 Mac noted a report from a Taiwanese news outlet which claimed in part that Apple would be putting the next-generation iPhone into production next month. Now, Bloomberg has confirmed that the company will indeed be starting production on two different models of the upcoming smartphone in July. (more…)
Because Apple sells more than 150 million iPhones a year with a sprawling network of suppliers making components, its ability to maintain such a wide cone of silence has become near-impossible. Apple has been mum but it appears that the upcoming iPhone will switch to sapphire screen coating instead of the thin Corning Gorilla Glass that has been there since 2007. And how do we know this is happening? Last November, Apple paid $578 million to GT Advanced Technologies in Arizona to help it produce lots and lots of sapphire, used commonly in high-end watches because it’s so durable and scratch resistant. But what wasn’t yet clear was whether that meant Apple would be taking the big step of covering the whole iPhone screen with it. (more…)
