In what appears to be the 2nd big security GAFF of the week for the Android phone and OS.
Security researcher Dr Xuxian Jiang has found a glitch that can allow hackers to bug your phone calls.  Dr. Jiang a professor at North Carolina State, says that some of the applications that come preloaded are being loaded on top of the existing Android architecture.  In doing so they have created potential back doors that can be used to give others complete access to information and features of the phone.

His tests included HTC’s Legend, EVO 4G and Wildfire S, Motorola’s Droid X and Samsung’s Epic 4G and all were found to have significant vulnerabilities.

The Professor has detected at least 12 Applications already in the Android Market that use this exploit to access this data.

Assistant professor Dr Xuxian Jiang, said the best defense against these bugs and hacks. Accept security updates by your vendors and don’t install apps you don’t know if you can completely trust.  He has notified all of vendors of the flaws and will be testing more phone and firmware as well.
