Chevrolet Volt safety investigation yields more battery pack fires – SlashGear.

Safety testing has reveled that after a crash the volts battery packs could spark a fire up to 7 day after the crash.
This is the latest round of issues that have plagued the fledgling Electric Auto industry. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened an investigation into lithium batteries. As the tests of the Volts batteries reveled that they started heating up long after the crash.
In the Fox news report below the industry expert explains it’s standard protocol for mechanic’s to drain the batteries before they work on it. He states that the safety expert’s did NOT do this in their testing.
Both sides of this story bear watching over time as the vehicle is just starting to gain traction in the market.
