Lexus has released a short video showing what appears to be a working superconductive hoverboard.

Move over Marty McFly, Lexus appears to have brought your fantasy into reality.

Lexus has released a short video showing what appears to be a working hoverboard. The video posted on their Amazing In Motion site offers a teaser view of the board with what looks to be liquid nitrogen vapors emanating from it.

At this time there are no details regarding if this is a working prototype or vaporware. This is the only bit of technical details provided:

The Lexus Hoverboard uses magnetic levitation to achieve amazing frictionless movement. Liquid nitrogen cooled superconductors and permanent magnets combine to allow Lexus to create the impossible.

The design incorporates the Lexus spindle grille shape throughout. The deck is made from natural bamboo and doesn’t have any grip tape on it. If you’ve ever skated, you know how essential that is.

Lexus is planning to release more updates on the Hoverboard weekly. You can follow #LexusHover to find out if this is an engineering break thru or special effects hoax.

SLIDE is the fourth project in the ‘Amazing in Motion’ series by Lexus.  With it’s introduction they appear to be challenging themselves and set a very high bar for technology, design and imagination.
