iOS 8.0.2
Apple’s update iOS 8.0.2 has now been placed on servers to address the issues discovered in yesterday’s 8.0.1 update on the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. The new release includes all of the HealthKit and keyboard fixes, among others, as well as the ability to actually make phone calls and connect to a cellular data network.  

Apple said yesterday that the update was coming “in a few days” and instructed users to downgrade to version 8.0 while awaiting the fix. The new update is rolling out now and can be found in the over-the-air software updater built into iOS.

CNBC’s twitter feed reported  Apple stated, that “less than 40,000 devices” were affected by the buggy release.

This iOS 8.0.2 release contains improvements and bug fixes, including:

  • Fixes an issue in iOS 8.0.1 that impacted cellular network connectivity and Touch ID on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus
  • Fixes a bug so HealthKit apps can now be made available on the App Store
  • Addresses an issue where 3rd party keyboards could become deselected when a user enters their passcode
  • Fixes an issue that prevented some apps from accessing photos from the Photo Library
  • Improves the reliability of the Reachability feature on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus
  • Fixes an issue that could cause unexpected cellular data usage when receiving SMS/MMS messages
  • Better support of Ask To Buy for Family Sharing for In-App Purchases
  • Fixes an issue where ringtones were sometimes not restored from iCloud backups
  • Fixes a bug that prevented uploading photos and videos from Safari

Update 08-26-2014: Completed my update on my iPad so far so good… Phone will be next, waiting to see how things respond.  Pad was close to the number displayed in the graphic in size however it did take a bit longer than I thought it would to complete the process.  Doing the iPhone now.

Update 08-27-2014: It appears that this release is not without issues as well however it’s affecting a much smaller group now.  It appears some iPad Air users and a group of folks in Australia are having issues with WIFI after this update.  The iPad Air users report not being able to make 5 Ghz connections via WIFI, while it appears Australian users are not able to use WIFI at all.
