The Kindle Fire is a great gadget if you want an iPad but don’t want to pay for it. I did a lot of research before buying my Fire and most of it was dead-on.
It has WiFi that is very easy to set up. Once you get that done, you are set. You can read books, watch digital movies, play music, download useful apps (of which there are a ton of free ones on the list), and browse on the web. The web interface is ok. Some sites are a little hard to see because of the screen size and some game sites don’t work well, but doesn’t bother me. Forces me to do other things like read the books and such. Apps are easy to download and install. Removing them is as easy as pressing on the icon for a couple seconds and selecting from the menu that comes up. You can turn the screen sideways and the orientation turns with you, so you can view it portrait or landscape. Things Kindle Fire doesn’t have: 3G, Camera, Expansion Card Slot, larger screen size. If you can live without those, then the Fire is a best bet for your money. Oh, and I can’t pry mine out of my 9 yr old’s hands yet. I don’t usually get it until the kids go to bed.

Dang now your making me want to buy one!!!
Dang make me want one NOW before Christmas.
Joe bought a fire for himself and then gave it to me because something better came out…he got his touch pad and now wants my kindle back. Sucker. There is a camera like spot on the kindle, top left corner, so I imagine a software update will soon give the kindle fire a nice update. Joe had to wait for an update and his camera works really well on his touch pad. Maybe demand and Christmas left no time to do the software end before releasing it to the market…I will let you know if that happens.
Too cool, I’m seriously considering one. I mean 1/2 the price of an IPAD. Have you looked at one dissected to see if the camera is in one??
