Boarding a moving train: The way to speed up rail travel? – CNN.com.

With the future of Highspeed rail all but stalled at the station in the USA.  Europe and the rest of the world move on answering one of the major issues that holds rail service back for many that use it.

All of the Stops the train makes slows it down.  Well those days very clearly are nearly over.  As a new design in mobile loading platforms would do away with the need to stop at all.

After years of using the light rail service in the Portland Metro area, this was the biggest complaint I had was the number of stops.  Granted light rail is much smaller than the High Speed systems that link most of Europe but they are plagued by the same issue.

A European design team seems to have a novel solution.  Don’t stop the train, move the passengers with a moving platform to and from the train.  The platform rolls up and docks, deposits it’s cargo and picks up those wishing to exit.  Undocks and returns to it’s station.
