Major FCC push: Cheap PCs, broadband – USATODAY.com.
The FCC along with ISP’s announce plan to get online and get connected cheaply. Cox, Charter, Time Warner cable and other ISP’s relieved plans to offer a $9.95 monthly broadband price to households eligible for school-lunch aid and PC refurbisher Redemtech will offer laptops for $150 and desktop monitor and pc bundle.
The low-cost broadband and PC’s should be available in the spring of 2012 in 10-15 trail cities, then available nationwide by fall 2012. Redemtech’s PC will be bundled with Windows 7 Home Premium and Microsoft Office.
